A gender-affirming vaginoplasty (with a vaginal canal) or vulvoplasty (without a vaginal canal) can be powerful procedures for reducing genital incongruence and dysphoria. Both surgeries involve the deconstruction and alteration of the components of the existing genitalia and the creation of a functional and aesthetically pleasing vulva. An orchiectomy (removal of both testes) is also performed during this operation if it has not been done previously.
The GIA is home to highly trained vaginoplasty surgeons; we create an individually tailored surgical plan that will best accomplish your desired goals. Depending on each patient's characteristics, a range of techniques can be employed to achieve aesthetically pleasing and functional genitalia, particularly concerning the lining of the vaginal canal. In patients with insufficient penile length for a penile inversion vaginoplasty, or where a significant preference exists for a particular procedure, the length can be augmented using techniques such as:
Use of grafts (scrotal or tunica vaginalis)
Peritoneal pull-through (PPT)
Colonovaginoplasty
