A large Adam’s apple (due to prominent thyroid cartilage) can be a source of misgendering for some patients. In a thyroid chondroplasty, the upper part of the cartilage is removed and the remaining cartilage is contoured through a small incision that hides in the crease between the visible neck and the skin below the jaw.
This procedure does not alter the pitch of the voice but can enhance confidence in a feminine appearance. It can be combined with other facial feminising surgeries or done as a stand-alone procedure.
